Red G Strings

The Red G Strings name came about by the love of the lower red g string on the ukulele and has no known affiliation to their choice of underwear. The group formed about three years ago and consists of two men and three women, Loren Niwa, Roger Pilkington and Kerrie Marshal ex pat kiwis, Tasmanian born Helen Gillespie and ex Victorian Bob Marshall.

You will find the five friends busking every Wednesday at the Urangan Pier Markets, out at Nickenbah Markets on a Sunday and best known for their harmonies, unusual muddleys and the fun they put into their performances.

In the past two years they have also discovered the joy of camping at festivals and watching their antics setting up camp, cooking their meals, consuming glasses of passion pop while jamming away throughout the evening, can be entertainment in its own right.

It is definitely worth popping in on one of their workshops which are informative, fun and presented in a professional but “easy to understand” manner and their tent lounge is always open for a chat or a jam.
